So we often get asked about which aftercare products, what you can and can’t use with your lashes, and which makeup is ok (and of course – most importantly – how to keep them clean!) so we’ve put together a few tips as well as our top picks for aftercare and lash safe makeup.

Generally, anything that’s been made specifically for lash extensions (labels will state this) should be ok. Lash cleansers themselves aren’t mainstream, but many salons (even those that don’t do lash extensions) will sell lash specific cleansers. We have EVERYTHING you need in our salons, and will happily show you exactly how to use our products!
Waterproof eyeliner and mascara, gel type eyeliner and any oily products, including oily makeup remover, oil face washes, and micellar water, are all total no-gos with extensions. Be particularly careful with makeup remover that’s labelled ‘oil-free’ but still separates with an oily layer. This will often indicate a high level of glycol (the worst for extensions being hexylene glycol) which can cause major retention issues, particularly if you’ve used it in the days prior to your appointment, and the lashes have absorbed it.

Here are some of our absolute top picks, that we stock in every salon:

1. LashGame Foaming Cleanser

Lash Game Eyelash Extension Foaming Cleanser
Why we like it: It’s foam consistency (and included brush) make it super easy to cleanse your extensions and lids. It FEELS great – really nice and refreshing. Good lid hygiene is super important for both keeping your lashes clean and removing oil build up which improves lash retention. It’s smoothing also – the non stingy formula means zero irritation, unlike other lash cleansers we’ve trialled.
It’s best for: ANYONE who wears extensions – it’s a must have!
You won’t need it if: You will need it. Please clean your lashes! :)

2. Puluk Mascara

Puluk Mascara
Why we like it: It doesn’t smudge and is one of those tubing type mascaras that’s really, really easy to get off. It’s made specifically for lash extension wearers. But, even when you don’t have extensions on, it works really well and gives a lot of length to lashes!
It’s best for: Classic lashes if you need a bit more oomph between infills (it will, like all mascaras, close up volume fans so they don’t look fluffy!) and just applied to the tips.
You won’t need it if: You get regular lash infills and have chosen the right density for the look you’re after. The aim, after all, is to avoid mascara if you can!

3. LashGame Makeup remover

Lash Safe makeup remover
Why we like it: This makeup remover is THE BEST we’ve ever come across. It’s super effective and takes eyeliner, mascara and eyeshadow off fast in one or two swipes, it doesn’t leave any sticky residue, it’s virtually fragrance free for sensitive eyes, and it’s 100% lash friendly!
It’s best for: Anyone who wears makeup (eyeliner, eyeshadow etc) with their extensions.
You won’t need it if: You don’t wear any makeup with your extensions. But using a lash-safe foam cleanser is still important!

4. Lash Safe Growth Serum

Lashgame Lash Safe Growth Serum

What it is : A  nourishing serum that encourages growth and strengthens hair follicles for longer, thicker looking lashes.

What it does : A natural gentle alternative or complementary option to lash extensions, this serum strengthens and helps nourish and condition the hair follicles, promoting growth and fullness for visibly longer, thicker and more resilient lashes and helps with sparse patchy brows too!

How to use as a lash serum : Make sure the eye area is completely clean of any makeup or any other residue. Remove brush application and carefully wipe away any excess serum on the inside of the tube. Apply to the base of the upper eyelashes using the applicator brush. Start from the inner corner of the eye outwards, directly on the base of your eyelashes. Use this serum once daily in the evening before bedtime. Let this product absorb into skin before applying additional products. Do not apply to the lower eyelids or directly to lashes. If any direct contact with eyes occurs, rinse thoroughly with cold water.

How to use as a brow serum : Make sure the brow area is completely clean of any makeup or any other residue. Remove brush application and carefully wipe away any excess serum on the inside of the tube. Using feathered brush strokes apply to sparse, thinning brow areas. Repeat on the other brow and allow 2-3 minutes to dry. Use this serum once daily in the evening before bedtime. Let this product absorb into skin before applying any additional products on your brows.

We do not recommend this product if you are pregnant, lactating or undergoing chemotherapy.

5. Lash Game Liquid Liner (Jet Black)

Lashgame Liquid eyeliner
Why we like it: It’s SO dark and so easy to wing, due to the firm tip. It’s also lash-friendly, and easy to remove. Hot tip: once you’ve applied, use a small amount of makeup remover on the ends of your extensions, to make sure you’ve not got eyeliner stuck on them and they stay nice and fluffy!
It’s best for: anyone who loves a simple, winged liner look and needs their makeup to stay on all day. It’s virtually smudgeproof.
You won’t need it if: ahhh…you don’t wear eyeliner
