Have you ever called up to make your lash infill appointment, only to be met with a series of questions that make you feel a little like – whyyyyy?! It’s just lashes, right?! Well, we’re here to let you in on a little secret… those questions are actually for your (or your lashes!) own good!

As eyelash stylists, we take pride in ensuring that each and every one of our clients leaves with lashes that are not only beautiful, but also safe and healthy for their natural lashes. And in order to do that, we need to know a little bit about your lash history – and what we’re working with if you’re coming in with lashes that have been done somewhere else.

Whilst we never, ever assume that the work would not be up to standard and that we can’t work in with lashes done somewhere else, , not all eyelash extensions are created equal. If you’ve had extensions applied elsewhere, it’s important for us to know what kind of quality control measures were taken during the application. Were the lashes applied too closely together/not isolated well (i.e. glue in places where it shouldn’t be? Were the wrong length of lashes used? Is the curl and styling flattering? Are the lashes that are there weighing down on the natural lashes or are they nice and light and well applied? These are all important factors that can affect the health of your natural lashes. The lashes in the photo here are all lashes that we didn’t do here, but were asked to infill – I’m sure you will agree – what a horror show! Luckily, in most cases a removal and a re-do if possible, but we do want to make sure that we have time to do that.

Sometimes, the best way forward is a removal and a new set, but other times we can easily work in with the existing lashes. At Lady Lash, we have hundreds of different options so we can usually very easily match the lashes that you have on.

But it’s not just about the health of your lashes. It’s also about ensuring that we have enough time to create the look that you’re wanting. If you’ve had extensions applied elsewhere, it’s possible that they were applied with a different technique or style. Knowing this ahead of time allows us to plan accordingly and ensure that we have enough time to create the look that you’re after. We are always happy to work in with lashes done elsewhere if the application was done well but we do want to make sure that we meet your expectations. Generally, the fuller and darker the look, the longer it takes to create it.

So if we do ask a few things about the lashes you have on from somewhere else or ask to see some photos for reference, please don’t be intimidated by the questions. Think of it as a little quiz, and a chance for us to get to know you and your lashes better – and to ultimately help you achieve the BEST lashes you’ve ever had! And who knows, you may even learn a thing or two about your own lashes in the process!

At the end of the day, our goal is to provide you with the best possible eyelash experience. So sit back, relax, and let us do what we do best – making your lashes look completely fabulous!

(Oh and also – if you’re heading interstate or overseas for more than a few weeks and need a recommendation for somewhere that will take really good care of your lashes, hit us up as we personally know lash stylists and their work in all corners of the world! We will always be more than happy to pass on your lash notes (the sizes, styling, curls and thicknesses that we’ve been doing) so your new stylist can easily follow them.

Got lashes on from somewhere else? Why we need to know this when infilling your lashes!
